Thomas F. McNemar, age 87, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Milford Hospital. He was born on July 22, 1930 in Clarksburg, WV to the late Charles and Flora McNemar. He moved to Bridgeport in 1942, working various jobs and serving in the National Guard before settling at Acco Industries, Allison Division for 25 years as a foreman. He graduated from Central High School Continuing Ed at the top of the class. He won a scholarship to Sacred Heart University where he obtained an Associate Degree, allowing him to be employed by the Remington Micro Shaver Company. After retiring from there after 5 years, he kept busy at part time jobs, working at the Westport YMCA signing in its most famous member for his racquetball games; Paul Newman. Family and friends will remember him for his doling out homegrown tomatoes, devotion to his family, and his never give in attitude, especially after his near death aneurysm in 1971 he wasn’t supposed to survive. “Uncle” Tom is survived by his son Thomas R. McNemar, daughter-in-law Karen McNemar and his granddaughter (“his doll”) Sarah McNemar, all of Milford, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. McNemar is predeceased by his loving wife, of 45 years, Clara Piccioli McNemar, daughter Sharon McNemar and brothers Charles, James, Robert and David (Stanley) McNemar. Calling hours are Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 20th at 10 AM. Entombment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
