Ilona Pistey Elliott
Mrs. Bloxsom was my science teacher and one of the few teachers who made a real impact on the person that I am. She made science interesting and didn't let me get away with much. She was tough, but she also informed me she knew I had a brain that worked well and challenged me to work. I was not an easy student for any teacher, but she seemed to know how to make me want to do better. The final report I wrote for her class was on Ecology, a new branch of science at the time. That report and her tutelage instilled in me a lifelong concern for environmental issues and a pro environmental ethic that has guided the principles I live by to this day. She made a real difference in my life. I'm thankful to have had her influence at the time that I did. I'm glad to see she had a rich and long life and wish all of her loved ones and family peace and comfort.
