Obituary

Allen Sanders Turbeville, 97, of Orange, CT died on May 13, 2019. He was the son of Bertha and John Allen Turbeville of Milford, CT. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Doris Turbeville, his sister, Jane Montgomery of Milford, CT and four children Betty Morgan (Arthur Rosen) of Framingham, MA., Susan Cline of Ashby, MA, Allen Robert Turbeville of Derby, CT and John and Elaine (his devoted daughter- in- law) Turbeville of Stratford, CT.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren Jamie, John Robert, and Michael Turbeville, Sarah and John Allen Turbeville and Amy Erickson, Adam Cline and Laura Cline and eight great grandchildren.
Allen was born in Dorchester, MA. The summers of his youth were spent on Cape Cod which he loved. When he was 16, he won a model building contest, the prize being a series of flying lessons, which led to a life-long love of flying. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps and he flew Stearman PT 17 biplanes and taught American and French cadets how to fly during WW II in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he met his wife Doris. After the war they moved to CT. to be closer to Al’s family. He worked as a salesman for many years at the Griffith Company in Bridgeport, CT.
Al was an excellent photographer and was a member of the Milford Camera Club and its’ President for many years. He also enjoyed wood working and loved to travel to the southwest with his wife.
He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather and valued his family above all else. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral service, with military honors will be held privately. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Glaucoma Society (www.americanglaucomasociety.net) or Rheinbeck Aerodrome (www.oldrhinebeck.org).
