David Edward Wilson, age 66 of Southbury, previously of Milford, lost his battle after many months of fighting in Yale ICU on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. David was born in Bridgeport, December 31, 1952, son of the late Clyde and Anna Harrison Wilson. David was a man who worked and provided for his family and always wore a smile on his face and had a heart of gold. He was the devoted husband of 40 years to Linda Sue Hayes Wilson, and the loving and caring father of twins Jason Edward Wilson and Jenea Marie Wilson. One of his most prized memories was the gift of being a Pop, aka grandfather, to his favorite little boy, Joseph J. Gagliardi III, son of his daughter and her fiancée Joseph J. Gagliardi Jr. He was also the brother of William C. Wilson and his wife Sue and uncle to 7 nieces and 1 nephew. He retired from Pitney Bowes, Enterprise, and last year he retired from Milford Transit and was well known, loved, and respected by his coworkers. Calling hours will be held Monday, October 28, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm at Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30pm during calling hours with Rev. Well I never did meet you in person, yet from all the stories your son tells me I feel like I know you and I would have loved you very much. Although Jason might not realize he is an amazing son and an amazing man. Like father like son her truly is because of you. He had a good man, great father to teach him how to be the best. For that thank you so much. Thank you for taking some of your precious moments with your family to speak to me through the phone. I will never forget them. I wish I was party of your life sooner. I will miss you. Rest in peace, may your soul love on.

To my loving Father:
Dad you have no idea how much you mean to me. Ever since i was a little boy, I always wished that one day I could be as good of a man as you were. For as long as i can remember, everything you did was with the intention of making everyone else happy. You never did anything for yourself, and always thought about how it would affect others. Even until your last breath, you were concerned if me Jenea and Mom were going to be ok. I always thought to myself, is my Father proud of me? Have i done enough to make sure he knows he did his job as a Father? Im writing this now to let you know you did. I didn't realize to recently, even though you used to tell me all the time, that you were proud of me. We used to have long talks in the rehab facility while playing chess, and I could see in you're eyes that you meant it. You told me that I was a good son, better than any man could ever hope to have and that you loved very much. You also asked me to make sure that I take care of your hunny bunny. I promised you and I swear I will never let you down. You always said to me that you didn't know if you did enough as a Father for us. You said that you wished you could have been there more. I want to let you know that you were the best father anybody could ever ask for. You were there for everything I needed you for. You always listened to me when I had a problem and gave me the best advice, even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear, in the end I knew it was right. No matter what you were going through you always asked how I was doing and I will never forget that. For you to be as sick as you were and still ask me how I was just shows what kind of man you are. You will be greatly missed by me, Jenea, and Mom and not just by all your friends and family, but by anybody who had the honor and priveledge of meeting you. I can tell you that I feel blessed that I had you in my life, and I will never forget you. I love you today more that I did yesterday, I will love you tomorrow more than I did today, and I will love you more and more everyday until the end of time. Goodbye dad I will always cherish every single moment we had together. Your grateful and truly blessed son, Jason
